I have finally lost my mind. It's a good thing Eggnog only comes around once a year. My number 2 child has discovered the Cardiac Lovers Drink of the holidays and loves it. I found myself exploiting his weekness by bribing him with it. I guess that make me a nog dealer. Well this "Nog Dealer" went as far as to offer to buy a whole quart of the good stuff that would be his very own if he could read me his book in under 10 min. Apparently Nog is an excellent motivator.
He's got his very own quart and is well on his way to becoming a Nogaholic. I opted for the traditional brand and even got the "Lite" version of the swill, but while I was there I noticed that we have now bridged the Eggnog gap with new flavors of the libation. Pumpkin spice, Vanilla Spice and Sugar Cookie which probably has all the refreshing qualities of drinking cake batter.
With this addiction growing, I wonder if the USDA only allows certain levels of Eggnog into the free market. There is probably an accepted danger level that is allowed knowing that the product will be pulled from shelves right after New Year's Day. And that the reprieve until next October is adaquate time to allow our exposure to the "Nog" to again reach safe levels of clogging. Much like the acceptable levels the government allows other countries to use lead paint in childrens toys. As far as my parenting I think I have learned my lesson and will not be bribing my kids with the "Nog".... now where did I put my Chocolate....
